As if there were any doubt, Labour’s mayoral campaign is promoted, and backed by, those who plunged Croydon into debt and effective bankruptcy.
Current Leader of the Opposition, Stuart King, also former Cabinet Member for Finance in Tony Newman’s Cabinet (the actions of which were investigated by the police), is promoting Rowenna Davis’ social media campaign.
Stuart King and Tony Newman were instrumental in the driving up of the current debt burden in Croydon, which now sits at £1.4bn. To service the debt, £300m of community assets have been sold off, council tax has risen by 27% in three years, and services have been slashed by the Conservatives.
What is clear is that Croydon Labour have learnt nothing from past failures, why should people ever trust them again?
Reform UK calls on Cllr Rowenna Davis to condemn the Newman Cabinet’s past actions. Does Rowenna agree with Reform UK and residents of Croydon, that there should be no return to the actions of the former Labour cabinet – actions which caused so much damage to Croydon?
